The strong conviction that one will certainly receive the favor of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is called in Sanskrit āśā-bandha. Āśā-bandha means to continue to think, “Because I’m trying my best to follow the routine principles of devotional service, I am sure that I will go back to Godhead, back to home.” Nectar of devotion chapter 18
Sitting in my room, I reflect on my experiences over the past week. I’ve met devotees who drive nearly two hours weekly to the temple to serve and connect with other devotees. I’ve also met devotees who make flower garlands for the temple Deities despite being allergic to the flowers. For two to three hours each week, they risk their health to serve Radha Gokulananda.
Another group of devotees brings their entire families to the temple daily for darshan and prayer. There are many more sincere devotees like these. Some arrive at 4am for morning prayers while others visit multiple times throughout the day.
While some devotees don’t visit as often due to life circumstances, they generously donate large sums of money to support temple projects and Deity worship. Others create a temple atmosphere at home, celebrate festivals with their families and involve friends in devotional service. These devotees also reap the same benefits as those serving in the temple.
Devotees offer their time, skills and wealth to Krishna. Ultimately, each of these devotees shares a common goal: to serve and please Lord Krishna.
”A human being’s activities should be centered only on devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa. That is the verdict of all Vedic literatures, and all saintly people have firmly concluded this. Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā Madhya 22.5
